Standing Out From The Crowd

The Network has been commisioned by Waltham Forest Arts and Events Team to deliver arts in education opportunities for children and young people across the borough until 2013. Much of the work will focus on participation in the Cultural Olympiad. Matched funding for the project has also been secured from Arts Council England.

The project will include:

- A Bollywood dance piece to be performed by students from Willowfield Secondary and George Mitchell Secondary Schools at the Waltham Forest Mela on 24 July and at Leyton Day on 11 September 2011
- A mural at Willowfield School to be created during Citizenship Week as part of the Cultural Olympiad in July 2012
- Creation of an Olympic anthem with elements including dhol drumming, gospel choir and MCing
- Creation and exhibition of artwork by local secondary schools and colleges and international schools at the Art in the Park exhibition in Langthorne Park 15-17 July 2011 and Light Up Langthorne Park Festival on 1 October 2011
